How We Calculate Your Scholarship Award

The annual award for each recipient will vary. Each recipient’s annual scholarship award will be based on the direct costs billed by the college and the student’s funding gap after other scholarship and grant awards are applied. See visual below for equation example or check out our College Cost Calculator to estimate your scholarship amount.

  • If a recipient’s annual funding gap is $10,000 or higher, the full amount of the Meeting Street Scholarship will be awarded.
  • If the funding gap is less than $10,000, the recipient will receive an award equivalent to the remaining amount owed to the college.

Off-Campus Scholarship Process

The Meeting Street Scholarship can be used toward the cost of off-campus housing and food for students in their second, third or fourth year. The Scholarship will continue to cover only the cost of on-campus housing and food for first-year students.

How this process works:

  • Once we receive your semester bill, we add up your tuition and fees.
  • We insert a set amount for housing and food determined by your college’s total cost of attendance for off-campus housing and food.
  • The sum of tuition, fees, and the off-campus housing and food allowance gives our team your total eligible expenses.
  • We subtract your other scholarships and grants from your eligible expenses to determine your funding gap.
  • The Meeting Street Scholarship will cover your funding gap up to $5,000 per semester.
  • The award is communicated to your college and they apply the amount to your bill.
  • The college uses the award to cover any balance not yet covered on your bill. The remaining amount of the award will be issued to you as a refund from the university.
  • You must use the refund to pay for your off-campus housing and food related expenses.

Please note:

  • Scholarship awards are dispersed directly to your college. We will not disperse funds to apartment management companies or individual landlords.
  • As you consider your housing options, please be mindful of the cost. The Scholarship is designed to aid in the cost of living off-campus, but it may not cover the full financial commitment.
  • Please ensure you are signed up to receive refunds via Direct Deposit to your preferred bank account. Otherwise, you will be issued a check mailed to your address on file.
