Beemok Education releases first-ever Impact Report

Charleston, S.C. – Beemok Education has released its inaugural Impact Report highlighting how its three education initiatives are creating opportunities and changing lives for South Carolina students and educators.

The 26-page report features stories and outcomes from the 2024-25 school year for Meeting Street Schools, the Meeting Street Scholarship Fund, and the Excellence in Teaching Awards. Beemok Education was founded by philanthropists Ben and Kelly Navarro.

“For those who are willing to work hard, these initiatives provide a gateway to a better education and a brighter future,” the Navarros wrote in the report. “We’re proud of what these initiatives have accomplished, and we’re just as excited about what’s to come.”

Beemok Education nonprofits focus on: empowering students with an excellent education (Meeting Street Schools), making college affordable for hard-working students (Meeting Street Scholarship Fund) and rewarding effective teachers with performance bonuses (Excellence in Teaching Awards). All three education efforts were launched in Charleston and since have expanded well beyond the Lowcountry.

“These initiatives continue to gain momentum and supporters because the impact is clear and measurable,” said Josh Bell, president of Beemok Education. “This Impact Report demonstrates the power of innovation, partnership and a commitment to excellence, and it highlights the meaningful progress happening for South Carolina students and teachers.”

The report explains each effort and details recent accomplishments. Some of the highlights include:

• Meeting Street Schools, which enrolls 1,600 students statewide, had its strongest year of academic growth on record in 2024-25, with students making an average of more than 1 ½ years of growth in a single year in both reading and math.
• The Meeting Street Scholarship Fund, which awards up to $40,000 scholarships to high-achieving under-resourced students, has committed nearly $60 million to more than 1,500 students in 14 South Carolina counties to cover college tuition, housing, food and fees.
• The Excellence in Teaching Awards, which honors effective teachers, awarded $4.6 million to teachers in 39 schools statewide.
