Hope, possibility and inspiration were palpable at a July 30 celebration for this year’s class of 265 Meeting Street Scholarship Fund recipients and their families.
Scholarship recipients and their supporters were invited to The Charleston Place to celebrate their accomplishments, facilitate connections among college-bound students and their supporters, and shine a spotlight on the Fund as it mounts a campaign to expand statewide.
The Meeting Street Scholarship Fund helps make college dreams a reality for public school students with a strong record of academic achievement and a demonstrated financial need. The scholarship uses simple criteria to determine student eligibility, the South Carolina LIFE Scholarship for academic achievement and federal Pell Grant for demonstrated financial need, and that leverages the power of both existing programs.
The day’s program included speeches from student scholarship recipients as well as Meeting Street Scholarship Fund Founder Ben Navarro, small group sessions for students that were organized by college, and panel discussions for both students and their parents.
