Scholarship renewal change: A new initiative to help our recipients graduate career ready

April 16, 2026

At the Meeting Street Scholarship Fund, our goal has always been to help recipients succeed in college and beyond.

As more of our Scholarship recipients graduate and begin the search for that first job, we’ve realized something important: there’s no replacement for real-world experience.

That’s why we’re excited to introduce the Future Focus initiative.

Why it matters

Future Focus is designed to help Scholarship recipients build the experience, skills and resume that employers are looking for by encouraging real-world learning through a job, internship or other approved work opportunity.

While classes provide an academic foundation, work experience helps students develop the skills they can’t always learn in the classroom such as time management, communication and confidence.

What’s changing

Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, Scholarship recipients will be required to complete 250 hours of part-time work during their second and third years of college to renew their Scholarship for the following academic year. Eligible work can include a part-time job on or off campus, research, internships or other approved work opportunities.

What’s next

We know this is a new expectation, and students will not be expected to navigate it alone. We plan to share more details and resources by August so our recipients can prepare for this new requirement. Students also can read more in our Frequently Asked Questions. We want everyone to keep their Scholarship and graduate ready for the workforce.

Future Focus is about helping Scholarship recipients leave college with more than a diploma. It’s about helping them walk into their future with confidence.
